How it works
Mini Rugby Semplice tells a coach what to look at and what to work on next, from the scores the head coach records after training.
One chain, four steps and one rule. Each step only happens once the one before it has.
- 1
The club administrator sets up the squads
One squad for each training group, with its register — a first name and up to three letters of the surname, nothing more. The coaches are invited, and one head coach is named on each squad.
- 2
The head coach saves the plan
They set how this squad trains — sessions a week, how long each one runs, how long a block lasts — and save the first block. Until it is saved the squad has no session sheet, no scoring and no picture: nothing else happens without it.
- 3
Every session follows from the plan
The session sheet carries tonight’s key factor. Every coach on the squad writes their part of it; the athletic preparation coach writes the athletic block, where your club has it. What the session looks like is the coaches’ own.
- 4
After the session, the scores
The head coach sits down afterwards and, from memory, scores the key factor across the whole squad — Strength, Solid, Weakness, or haven’t seen enough. The athletic preparation coach scores the physical skills. The squad picture appears.
The rule
The plan holds the next session on the same part of the game and the same key factor until 80% of the squad is Solid or better on it, then moves on. Nobody has to decide when to move: the scores decide.
If the squad has not got there after 4 sessions, the plan moves on anyway and that key factor comes round again later in the season.
Mini Rugby Semplice never gives the drill or the session. The coach designs the game.
